It really hit me a few years back when a racing game (I think one of the forza horizon games) was no longer for sale due to licenses expiring for the vehicles in the game. I get why copyright and licensing laws exist.

computer components dont usually pick up newer components compatibility, but newer components are usually backwards compatible. meaning a 1.2 will not support a 1.3, but a 1.3 will support 1.2 under normal circumstances. also thats a laptop, if they page don't tell you all the features you need to find the manual, they are build on OEM mobos

It’s sad seeing this go. I think backwards compatibility with 7th gen and before will remain a distant memory. What’s also bad is the original Halo and Forza are not supported with the backwards compatibility program. I wrote a guide if your interested which can come in handy for repairing original hardware.

Get a second hand 360. I have FM 1-4 that I play all the time on my 360. 4 had a great car selection and tracks, but man affinity made the cash system pointless. I played FM4 yesterday actually and there’s still people selling on the auction house.
Sony has had a bit of a hit and miss approach to backwards compatibility across the console generations. PS2 could play almost any PS1 game, as could PS3. However unless you had a very early PS3, it couldn’t play PS2 games. PS4 was an island all of its own with no backward compatibility, and the current PS5 will play almost any PS4 game.
