Short while after this glow plug light came on, then stopped starting. Got it to a garage and found number 3 injector was nackard, replaced this and pressure up, started on easy start and runs

The test is to disconnect all the electrical drives to the injectors and also disconnect the electrical connection to IMV. This causes the IMV to be fully open. If you now crank the engine you should see >1050bar. Unfortunately I still don't see any pressure, although I do see the occasional pressure blip but not for long enough to start the car.

I have a 62 mondeo diesel estate with 135k, great car and goes like a dream normally. Couple of weeks ago i had the information (i)light up on the dash. Car was still running good but a couple of days later the orange engine light came on. Phoned the garage and booked it in last Thursday, drove home and the car kept going in and out of limp mode.

At the most basic of levels your Ford Mondeo needs three things to start: Air, fuel, and spark. If any of these things aren鈥檛 present, the engine won鈥檛 turn over at all. If there鈥檚 been zero warning that the fuel filter could be going bad (hesitation, difficulty starting, etc) than a clogged fuel filter might not be the place to start.
The usual fault is the module fitted to the top which stops comms between PCM and pump causing non start i.e P1664 'FIP requesting reduced fueling mode'. DI obviously is a rotary pump which supplies injectors with a timed delivery of fuel, injectors not fired electronically like you quite rightly say.
